Mahindra Halo sports concept EV revealed

The Mahindra Halo revealed today at Auto Expo 2014 in India. Reports are that it will be powered by an electric motor developing approximately 140bhp to power the Halo from 0-100km/h in less than 7 seconds while the top-speed is 160km/h and the range 200km.

The Halo may go on sale in 2016 targeting both India and international markets. See the video here

"The first thing you’ll notice is that it looks great. It’s compact and well proportioned, the LED detailing is well executed, and the ‘double bubble’ roof just screams sportscar. And apparently, it’s no slouch either; the company claims it can dash from 0-100kph in under eight seconds. The brochure also hints at a 160kph top speed, and a 200km range, but there’s been no official confirmation on that. Keeping with its techie theme, the interior gets a large tablet on the centre console that displays various car functions in real-time and doubles up as a multimedia player too."
"The Mahindra Halo looks terrific and the styling is well proportioned. However, the design isn’t as radical or edgy like most sports car concepts. Mahindra REVA designers have deliberately opted for a more rounded and conventional shape to establish an image of practicality. “We want to convey that the Halo is not just a sports car but an everyday car that’s easy to own and drive."
Is it the best looking Mahindra to date? We think so."

"extremely well designed (very Lotus-ish though) and extremely well proportioned"

"The Halo concept sports car is an ambitious brand image building model...the look of the car can be described as an odd amalgamation. The front end is similar to the Mclaren MP4-12C, the rear tail-lamps seem to have taken inspiration from Jaguar and Tesla. However, what dominates everything else is the overall Audi TT profile. It is almost the exact same as the TT from an overview with the exception of the dauntingly large rear wind-shield.

"...it looks absolutely terrific. It's stylish and the designers from Pininfarina and Bertone, who are a part of Mahindra Reva's in-house design team, have done an exceptional job to make it look radical and give it that sports car feel."

"The car doesn’t have the sharp contours of most sports vehicles, but a tame, round look."

"It’s sleek, sits low, has two doors, two seats, large wheels and an all-electric powertrain. The Halo’s dimensions look very similar to the Honda S660 concept.
It can do the 0-100kph sprint in 9 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 kmh claims Mahindra. Agreed it isn’t technically sportscar quick but why wouldn’t you want a car that looks as good as the Halo, is decently quick and potentially more efficient than the conventional hatchback."

"It's like a pint sized 911. Perfect for the streets of London."
