Plug-In Car Grant: Since the launch of the Plug-In Car Grant in January 2011, there have been 31,842 eligible cars registered (excludes commercial vehicles) (SMMT).
BEV sales have doubled in the first 5 months of 2015 (vs 2014), whereas sales of PHEVs are up more than 765%. Total EV sales were approaching 12,000 units for the first 5 months. EV sales now account for roughly 1% of total new car sales in the UK. During the period the UK was the largest EU market for sales of EVs.
