Just announced at the Frankfurt auto show by the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group (5th largest global automaker): Kia to focus on EVs, Hyundai on plug-ins & fuel cells.
Kia will introduce its first EV by the end of 2011, codenamed TAM it will offer a range of 100 miles and a top speed of 80 mph. Hyundai meanwhile is taking the longer view with a big bet on fuel cell vehicles and plug-ins, a strategy which gives each company a distinct focus but which could leave Hyundai knocking on the sister company's door if EV battery prices tumble.
